Heavenly
Hash
New Orleans is renowned throughout the world as a city of good
things to eat. Second
only to the world-famous pecan praline
|
is
Heavenly Hash, a "heavenly" combination of
double-rich milk chocolate, tender marshmallow and fresh roasted almonds.
|
| Heavenly
Hash became a southern favorite 100 years ago, and for a decade
it could be bought at a tiny New Orleans confectionery shop
which specialized in homemade candies. In 1823 Elmer's acquired
the well-guarded secret recipe, along with the copyrighted name.

Gold
Bricks
"The
Candy Bar With
the Million Dollar Taste"
|
|
A
1 oz. candy bar that sold for 5c when other 5c bars contained
from 3 to 4 ounces? "Unheard of".... "Preposterous".... "It
will never sell!" That's what critics exclaimed when Elmer's
first brought out Gold Bricks, back in 1936.
|
|
| |
But
the Elmers didn't believe it. They were convinced that Americans were
hungry for a quality candy bar with choice pecans and a meltaway center
coated with rich milk chocolate.
|
Today,
people in every state in the union as well as many foreign countries,
know and enjoy Gold Bricks.
|
|
Many candy lovers write voluntary letters of praise from which
a few excerpts are quoted:
" I'm in my 88th year and have eaten many kinds of chocolate
in my lifetime, but have never eaten anything more delicious
than Elmer's Gold Bricks!"
O.J.M., Los Angeles
" Today an office associate found a Gold Brick hidden in a desk
drawer since Christmas. It was every bit as good as those we
enjoyed nine months ago. Thanks for making a really good candy
bar."
M.K.C., Greendale, Wis.
" We first bought Gold Bricks to send to serviceman Overseas.
Now it's No. 1 on our candy hit parade for the whole family."
Mrs.M.A., St. Louis, Mo.

PECAN EGGS
In
1855 Elmer’s developed the Pecan
Egg. A tantalizing creamy nougat center is drenced in gooey
caramel, then coated with crisp fresh pecans. Unlike other
pecan candies, which use pecan and soy chips. Elmer’s only
uses fresh Louisiana Seedling pecans, the most flavorful pecans
available.

 |
| A
steadily growing favorite, Pecan Eggs have joined Heavenly
Hash and Gold Brick as an essential part of any Easter basket. |
